The piano itself is pretty neat and works with both the iPad and iPod, but the piano apprentice app that you have to download leaves a lot to be desired. I thought it would be more of a basic piano lesson, learning the notes one at a time then putting them together to form the song, but instead the song plays at full tempo and is hard to follow. Besides which, there are only 4 songs to learn.

This is an excellent device! No, it won't turn you into a concert pianist, and it may not inspire a non-musician. But if you really want to add piano to your repertoire, it's an excellent way to start. Rather than spending hours playing Angry Birds, why not learn some chords, and learn to navigate your way around a keyboard? It sounds good and is portable. Good for kids (not too much money invested) as well as adults.

Personally I loved this unit its lots of fun, while it may not replace piano lessons its a great way to start.
Its a great activity for your family and is a very good investment in my mind. Its worth noting too this also works with any midi music app on the app store. So when you have learned all you can from the included app you can use it as a cool controller for your favorite music apps. All this for such a cheap price I think this is a great gift.
